About

“Catalano Shipping Services” was established in 1997 in the Principality of Monaco, proud home of what was to become the “capital of (advanced) yachting”. Two destinies which in fact grew successfully in parallel, with permanent interactions. Indeed, over the last 25 years, Catalano Shipping has developed from a single yacht agency office to a leading international network, while the port(s) of Monaco were growing from a prestigious destination for a few sailing and motor boats to modern infrastructures able to accommodate the largest yachts. Created in 1997 by Aldo Catalano who rapidly imposed his name in the industry, the company was rapidly joined and developed by Laurent Certaldi and Tomaso Moreno (also marking the introduction of “Fratelli Cosulich” in the capital, a global shipping group, which allowed to bring additional international support and flawless backing).

Frequently Asked Questions

Securing a berth in Port Hercules for the Monaco Grand Prix necessitates foresight and planning, with applications required at least eight months prior to the event. The intense competition for these coveted spots ensures that priority is granted to entities directly associated with Formula 1, the Monaco Grand Prix, and their sponsors.

Monaco boasts two principal marinas: Port Hercules and Port Fontvieille, each offering distinct experiences and facilities.

Size and Capacity:

Port Hercules: The larger and more renowned of the two, it features 700 berths, including 30 for visitors, and can accommodate yachts up to 130 meters in length. Depths range from 5 to 40 meters.

Port Fontvieille: Smaller with over 270 berths, this marina primarily serves residents, offering limited availability for visitors.

Location and Atmosphere:

Port Hercules: Nestled in the heart of La Condamine, it is encircled by award-winning restaurants, bars, and boutiques. This port is known for its vibrant and bustling ambiance.

Port Fontvieille: Situated in the Fontvieille district, it exudes a quieter, more residential atmosphere. While surrounded by bars and restaurants, it lacks the lively energy of Port Hercules.

Accessibility and Restrictions:

Port Hercules: Closed to land access during practice and race sessions, necessitating tender transfers. Superyachts are prohibited from leaving between Wednesday and Monday of race week, with a mandatory minimum charter period of five days.

Port Fontvieille: Remains accessible at all times, offering a tranquil base for those wishing to view the race from the grandstands.

Berth Allocation:

Port Hercules: Berth applications for Zone 1, with track views, require submission at least eight months in advance, prioritizing Formula 1 affiliates, including racing teams, drivers, and sponsors.

Port Fontvieille: Berth applications are required at least three months in advance.
