Historic Monaco Grand Prix

From 24 to 26 April 2026, the Principality of Monaco will once again host the 15th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, one of the most prestigious historic motorsport events in the world. Set on the legendary Monaco street circuit, the event brings together iconic racing cars and celebrates nearly four decades of Grand Prix history in a unique setting.

A key highlight of the 2026 edition is the return of Formula 1 turbo-powered cars. Recent FIA regulation changes allow the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) to introduce a dedicated class for turbo-engined single-seaters that raced at Monaco between 1981 and 1985, reviving a category originally planned for earlier editions.

At the heart of the event remain the much-loved 3-litre Formula One cars, often powered by the legendary Ford Cosworth DFV V8. Introduced in 1966, these cars transformed Formula One and are widely considered symbols of the sport’s golden age. Between 80 and 100 cars are expected across Races D to G, all meticulously preserved and capable of running at impressive pace on Monaco’s streets.

Staying true to its heritage, the organisers continue to feature Race A1, dedicated exclusively to pre-war cars, including iconic Bugatti and Maserati models that form the DNA of the Monaco Grand Prix. Races A2 (post-war front-engine cars) and C (sportscars) will also run unchanged, alongside the remaining Formula One grids showcasing the evolution of Grand Prix racing from 1946 to 1985.

Several important anniversaries will be celebrated during this 15th edition, including 100 years since Maserati’s racing debut, milestones for Gordini, 60 years since McLaren’s Formula One debut, and the legacy of Ligier, highlighted by Olivier Panis’ memorable Monaco victory in 1996.

Combining heritage, sound, spectacle and atmosphere, the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2026 promises another exceptional celebration of motorsport history in the heart of the Principality.
